The weekend starts on Friday’s at Greater Easterhouse Supporting Hands Disco Night (known affectionately as ‘The Gesh’). Mainstay service users and their support workers, along with service users from other Glasgow based support organisations, meet between 7pm and 10pm to dance, socialise and have a good time. The DJ plays a variety of popular music from different decades and requests for a favourite tune are always welcomed. There is a licensed bar for those service users who fancy a tipple, and those who don’t are well catered for with a selection of soft beverages. Birthdays and special events are always recognised, with the birthday boy or girl being the centre of attention for the night. Service users really enjoy social aspect of the Disco Night and it is a great opportunity for people to interact in a closely monitored environment, and to make lasting friendships.
