Our Social Activity Group meet up regularly to discuss what activities are available for the people we support. This group is made up of staff and people we support with the remit of identifying activities for people to participate in as a group. The following groups currently meet every week:
This is a small group who enjoy all things arts and crafty, they meet up on a Monday afternoon within our head office to catch up with each other and to unleash their creative flair!
Everyone likes a sing a long and this Monday night out really attracts a crowd of would be X Factor competitors!
Tuesday is the day to join our group of laid back pamper types – our Aromatherapist Debbie is in Mainstay Head Office every Tuesday, offering a range of therapies to be enjoyed.
This group meet up every Wednesday afternoon in the computer suite at the Head Office, again a big focus is catching up with friends with the computer use dependent on each persons choice – lots of internet access and you tube use as well as some creative card making!
There are a number of avid gardeners amongst the people we support and for that reason we have groups at our community house in the East End of Glasgow on a Thursday, Friday and Sunday every week – there are the make the garden pretty group who concentrate on the flower beds and then the more practical vegetable growers who have plots and plan to supply the cookery group as their produce grows!
This group meet up to eat and be merry on a Friday in the training kitchen at our Head Office! Every week sees a new meal preparation explored with both staff and the people they support adding a new option to their menu as they learn how to make a meal from start to finish – even washing up the dishes afterwards!
Of course this has to be a Friday night to get the weekend started, join a group of party animals at the GESH every Friday night!
The only place to be on a Saturday – this group like their food and meet up every week at the Mainstay Office, it is a great time to meet up with friends and have a chat and a laugh.
More groups are added all the time and it is the ideas given by the people we support that enable us to support groups that people enjoy. Contact us to discuss how we would include group activities when planning your support.
